Restoring Lost Songs: Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy

1000-year old melodies for Boethius' On the Consolation of Philosophy as reconstructed by Sam Barrett, Ben Bagby and Hanna Marti with Norbert Rodenkirchen are now available for download in a new performance edition.  Six songs from the recovered Cambridge Songs leaf span Boethius' lament in the face of his impending execution through to Philosophy's stern rebuke to rein in his emotions. Featuring the restored melodies in an innovative format, with guidance on how to read the notation, a free to use translation and commentary, this edition provides everything performers need to prepare their own versions of the Songs of Consolation.  All we ask in return is that you let us know your comments, any questions you might have and how the edition is being used, either via the website discussion board or via email.
